Inspiring nursing students
Yesterday I spent time with colleagues (Ruth, Ailsa and Lindesay), assessing year 4 nursing students presentations from their leadership module. The module was offered as an intensive 5 day school about developing person-centred cultures. It was so noticeable that significant and deep learning had taken place; especially in regards to knowing self and values. Students also spoke about ways in which they would be more aware not to accept ‘certain taken for granted’ ways of being and working in practice environments and stay more connected to their values and beliefs. And on top of this, each of the groups were creative in their presentations demonstrating a wide range of skills – and talent too. The Person-centred Nursing and Practice Frameworks clearly mean something to our learners as they prepare for practice as RNs.
